“DM for prices” feels like it protects you — from being undercut, from people judging a number out of context, from committing to a rate in public. In practice it does something else: it makes every single enquiry start with the one question you did not want to answer twice a day.
What actually happens when prices are hidden
Everyone asks. The people who were always going to book, and the people who were never going to book at your rate — you cannot tell them apart until after you have replied to both. Published prices do that filtering for you, before either conversation starts.
The fear behind hiding them
Usually it is one of two things: worrying a number looks too high next to a competitor who quotes lower in DMs, or wanting room to price each customer differently. Both are real concerns. Neither is solved by hiding the number — a competitor pricing lower will undercut you whether your price is on a page or in a message, and if you genuinely need to price case by case, a range or a “starting from” figure does that without forcing every visitor into your inbox first.
What publishing them actually gets you
Fewer “how much” messages, and the ones that do arrive are from people who already know your rate and are asking about availability instead — a much shorter conversation, and one far more likely to end in a booking.
Our Signature tier is built around this: a proper page for your services with prices laid out. We will push you to publish them and design around the one real exception, if there is one — but we will not pretend hiding them protects you from anything it actually protects you from.
